Good Afternoon Everyone!

First of all a quick reminder that this week we start our new time.  We'll meet from 8PM-10PM.  I know this may be a little late, but we're trying to put both the middle school and high school groups on the same night if possible.  If we go a few weeks and say "wow, this really isn't working" then we'll change it again and try something else.

Last time we met, we gave a few options on the next series we'd be doing.  Starting next fall, our Elementary-Middle School will be doing a new Christian based anti-bullying program.  However, as with anything new, we're trying to evaluate it to see if it's really worth doing.  So with that in mind, since many of you have already demonstrated in many ways how you always make an extra effort to see people are included, and act very much against that idea, we agreed to run through some parts of the program at FORT to see what you folks think about it.  Then, hopefully those ideas will figure into how the program is actually implemented at the school.

To set the context for the discussion, this week we'll be watching the ABC Family Movie "Cyberbully."  It gives what I think is a reasonable demonstration of the secular world's approach to the problem.  So after the movie, our discussion will include things like "how realistic is this really?", "What sorts of things do they do in schools now?",  "How well do they work" , and "what other things do you think Christianity, or Catholicism in particular could bring to the discussion?"  Then, next week, we'll look at an example from the life of a saint, and the following week, we'll begin the program.  If all goes well, we should wrap up this section sometime in the middle of Lent.

As a fair warning to families, while the movie does not have ANY graphic content, the movie does deal with serious topics that can affect average high school teens.  I would encourage parents with any concerns to watch the movie ahead of time.  However, I would like the young people to wait till they get here to approach with an open mind.

Also, the movie/discussion WILL take the full time, so PLEASE be there NO LATER THAN 8:00PM

One Final Note, if any parents are interested in volunteering to help with FORT or any other youth ministry activities, there is a Protecting God's Children session coming up next Thursday, Feb 9th.  register online at www.virtus.org

Any parents or young adults able to help on a given youth group night, please don't forget to sign up at http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/37234563193763802

See you Friday!
